HOUSTON, TEXAS – In an effort to help keep our communities safe, Sutliff & Stout is offering ride-share reimbursements to our neighbors for the upcoming New Year holiday.
The firm has been offering ride-share reimbursements since 2016. The campaign has previously applied to such holidays as St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco De Mayo, Labor Day, Halloween, and even the Super Bowl.
The promotion is eligible for those in Houston, Austin, San Angelo, Odessa/Midland residents, and the Highland Lakes community. Qualified rides must be taken between 5 PM the day of the holiday (New Year’s Eve) and 10 AM the following day (New Year’s Day). The maximum value of reimbursement is up to $30. Those requesting a refund of their Uber/Lyft will need to send a copy of their receipt, a photocopy of a valid driver’s license, and an email associated with a valid PayPal account to our Houston office. Full details regarding all rules regarding the promotion can be found online at SutliffStout.com.
Each year, hundreds of Texans are killed by drunk drivers. In 2022, approximately 1,162 individuals were killed in accidents involving drunk drivers across the Lone Star State. That’s an average of 3 people per day.
A recent study conducted by Forbes found that Texas was the 3rd worst state in the Union for drunk driving. The study also found that drivers accounted for 42.37% of all traffic deaths in the state in 2022.
TxDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) has been actively working to raise awareness regarding drunk driving. The agency disclosed earlier in the year that in 2022, 26% of all traffic deaths in Texas involved a drunk driver.
Across the country, driving under the influence and drunk driving remains a massive issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that ⅓ of all car crashes involve a drunk driver, costing those involved an estimated $44 billion in relation to deaths and damages yearly. On average, drunk driving claims the lives of 28 people per day across the U.S.
Attorney and Sutliff & Stout founding partner Hank Stout emphasizes the importance of safe transportation whenever partaking in alcoholic beverages, especially during a busy holiday.
“Representing Texans for nearly two decades has given me the solemn opportunity to witness the aftermaths of alcohol-involved accidents. It’s a former client who first inspired us to begin offering this promotion to our neighbors in the community. If we can prevent even one accident from occurring, then it’s positive progress.”
Over the years of this promotion, Sutliff & Stout has paid for hundreds of taxi and ride-share rides. It’s our mission to make our local streets safer.
